#HelloYellow

This week, it's World Mental Health Week, and as always, YoungMinds are running the #HelloYellow campaign to get young people talking about mental health.

YoungMinds is the UK's leading charity fighting for children's and young people's mental health. Their aim is to see a world where no young person feels alone with their mental health, and make sure that all young people get the mental health support they need.

October 8th is #HelloYellow day, and so you're encouraged to wear your best yellow accessories, your neon socks, your banana hat, all to show young people that they're never alone with their mental health and that they can talk to you if need be.

We all struggle sometimes, some more than others and it's completely normal to have ups and downs. 2021 might have been a little more down than it has been up for a lot of us, but each and every one of the little things have got us through it. Whether that be a short walk with a friend, or just having a nice cuppa, they all help us in different ways.

Yellow is a bright colour, associated with the happy things in life like sunshine, hope, loyalty.

I'll be wearing yellow because I feel like it's so important to make young people in the UK aware of the support that they have right behind them should they need to fall back on it, and to reduce the stigma around mental health, it's time we got talking rather than keeping it shut behind closed doors.

I've seen how worsened mental health can affect young people, and I've seen how the conditions can be improved with the correct help and advice.

Join me and thousands of other people all around the UK and say #HelloYellow!
