I care

As I'm sure many of you are aware, the rugby world cup has announced the postponement of the women's tournament until 2022 for the safety of the players and countries. Although this is a devastating time, we can see light through it because it means that travelling fans will be allowed in the stadiums, and it'll draw in fans from all around the world without fearing Covid-19.

Honestly, this is gutting news for myself, the rugby players who had trained years for this event, the coaches, the fans, the people who work for the teams, and basically anyone who has an interest in women's rugby.

However, many misogynistic men in the comments sections of some of the postponement posts decide AGAIN to let the whole world know that they aren't grown up enough to even be able to count to four, let alone accept that women play rugby!

From what I've seen, I've read a couple of people now suggest that World Rugby call this tournament the "women's world cup because that's what it is." and also "I thought it was the men's world cup you had me worried there." I have two things to say to these. A) If you were a true rugby fan, you would know that the Rugby World Cup runs every 4 years, making the next men's world cup in 2023, not 2021 in the first place, and B) Start calling it the men's world cup too then alongside the women's world cup, you can't have one without the other so either deal with it being called the Rugby World Cup, or start using genders at the start of each tournament name.

In light of this, we've also had many fans in the comments saying that this is devastating news which, although sounds crazy me saying this, is a good thing for women's rugby! It shows that more and more people are appreciating this wonderful sport as the days go by!

I care about women's rugby. I always have and will continue to support and care for this amazing sport. Feel free to share and also use the hashtag #icare when talking about women's rugby!
