There's nothing better than watching your country in any game, whether that would be a friendly, or in tournament.
That was exactly how I spent my Friday, 30th April. Sat on the sofa with my voice ready to shout at the TV and to cheer England on, I was hoping for an exciting match, and if you ask you shall receive, and therefore both France and England gave us an amazing match!
Well, I say match but when you think of a rugby match, you think of an 80 minute long game, right? In this case that was so wrong. For the first 60ish minutes of this game, there was a failure with the floodlights, causing the game to be cut short after much deliberation between both teams and also the match day officials.
However, for the 60ish minutes we did see, we saw England and France play a much different game to the one they played in the six nations final. They played a much higher tempo game, kicking the ball from hand more often, making it a battle between the backs unlike the forwards in the final.
Both teams showed improvements in the game, despite only having 5 and a bit days to prepare and learn from the mistakes made in the final. I was impressed by the determination of England and France to make a change from where they went wrong.
Abby Dow was my player of the match, because over the 60 minutes played, she scored 2 wonderfully created tries, and looked raring to get another. She never fails to impress me with her speed and agility.
The England vs France matchup is always an exciting game, and it definitely did not disappoint!
Although it had a bizarre and slightly disappointing ending, it was a game of women's rugby for fans all around the world to enjoy. Here's to many more exciting games to come!
For now, lets look forward to the return of the Allianz Premier 15's.
Until next time!
